Fire, Fabrication & Far Too Much Food
We recently packed ourselves off for a retailer day with the team at Somerset Grill Company, and it’s fair to say they know how to host a bunch of BBQ people.
We’ve seen the finished grills plenty of times, but getting behind the scenes was a different story. We were shown around the workshop and fabrication bays, getting a proper look at how the grills are built from the raw steel right through to the finished product.
And that’s the bit we love.
These aren’t anonymous BBQs arriving in a container from halfway around the world. They’re proper bits of kit, designed and fabricated here in the UK by people who clearly have an unhealthy obsession with fire, steel and cooking meat. Naturally, we felt right at home.
We also got a look at some of the new products coming through, including additions to the outdoor living side of the range. Fire pits, outdoor fires and some seriously impressive cooking setups were all on display.
Then came the important bit: lunch.
And Somerset Grill Company definitely didn't stick a couple of burgers on and call it a BBQ.
We were treated to an absolute spread cooked over live fire — beautifully cooked steaks, meat straight from the grill, charred vegetables, potatoes, beans and even a grilled fruit and yoghurt number to finish things off. We went there to learn about BBQs and somehow ended up needing a lie down.
Days like this are exactly why we enjoy working with manufacturers like Somerset Grill Company. You get to meet the people behind the products, see how they're actually made and understand why they've been designed the way they have.
A massive thanks to the whole Somerset Grill Company team for having Ember & Iron down, showing us around and feeding us exceptionally well.
Now we just need to work out which of the new toys we want first.
